  • Modafinil

Hello, I am wondering if there is anymore information on Modafinil and breastfeeding. I have a 4 month old and am considering getting back on 100mg of Modafinil. Wondering if this is safe? Thank you

There are some reports of women breastfeeding while using Modafinil, however, it comes with possible serious side effects for the infant due to its long half-life and relative infant dosage being greater than 5%. Agitation, irritability, poor sleep, poor weight gain, and EKG changes have been reported in infants who were breastfed by mothers using Modafinil. The use of Modafinil should only be used on a case-by-case basis after serious consideration of all options and close supervision of both mother and infants providers.
