  • Prednisone and breastfeeding

I’ve been prescribed methylprednisolone 4mg for a tapered 6 days to help with an allergic reaction to surgical glue. I am exclusively breastfeeding my 4.5mo old. Is it safe? Do I need to pump and dump? Pediatrician states there isn’t enough information and I should pump and dump for the duration. I’d rather not do this!

It is safe to breastfeed on steroids for a short amount of time such as this.
