I have a two-year-old that occasionally still breastfeeds once per day for a couple of minutes. Is there any reason to believe that getting a dermal filler injection (Juvederm, Radiesse, NOT Botox) would be unsafe for her? Thanks in advance.

It is unlikely that fillers will get into breastmilk. There is even less concern in your case due to the age of your baby and the fact that she is not getting much milk.

Hi there, what about the cross linking agent used in dermal fillers, BDDE? Is any residual unreacted BDDE harmful?

        Hello,
I had a question about BDDE as well (the cross linking agents used in dermal fillers). I’m not sure what a cross linking agent is exactly but, can that be transferred into the breastmilk? Does it make a difference if an individual were to use restalyne kysse specifically versus juvederm? The main active ingredient in both are HA.

Here is some information documenting the differences between the 2 fillers:
“While both contain HA, Restylane Kysse also contains a crosslinker known as BDDE. This helps form a structural network of HA within the tissues that helps it last longer. It also enhances the color of the lips. Restylane Kysse can be slightly more expensive per injection than JUVÉDERM.“
