    Mounjaro and breastfeeding

    Is there any updates on breastfeeding on mounjaro? I have an 11 month old and my bmi is 32 and I'm desperate to lose weight (for my health more than look) but struggle with food noise and appetite. I also don't want to wean as ideally would like to breastfeed for at least 2 years and also ideally allow baby to self wean. Happy to do semi glutides if safer than mounjaro.

    We do not have specific mounjaro data at this time. What we do know is that as long as your baby is eating plenty of solids and has a balanced diet (this typically occurs after 12 months), that semaglutide is generally well tolerated. Semaglutide may lead to reduced calorie intake, potentially reducing milk supply and may change the composition/nutrition of breast milk. Again, as long as your baby is getting sufficient calories/nutrition from a variety of table food in addition to your breast milk, the use of GLP-1 medications is likely compatible with breastfeeding. Good luck on meeting your 2 year goal! You are doing great!

      Thank you- I read somewhere infant risk were testing breast milk from mounjaro uses - is there an estimate of when this study will be complete? Thanks again.
