We data on Metformin in breastfeeding mothers and its pretty clear that it is quite safe to use in breastfeeding mothers. Less than a percent of the maternal dose actually gets to the infant.
Infant development has been noted to be absolutely normal. Further, the fact that your infant is 22 months old further supports that there is little to no risk at this time interval, as the dose of "milk" the infant gets is minimal.
