  • Demerol - general anesthesia

I know Demerol isn't preferred, but I'm told it's required for my procedure. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how many doses I'll need, but it's for a surgery expected to take one hour, and I weigh 145 lbs. I will ask when I see the anesthesiologist to be sure.

My breastfeeding child is a toddler, not an infant. She will be 3 soon.

Thank you so much for any advice regarding how long to wait after the anesthesia.

We suggest waiting at least 9 hours after receiving Demerol before nursing your toddler. Please feel free to call with dosage specific questions if you have any additional questions. Good luck on your procedure!
