  • Kesimpta and breastfeeding

Hello, are there new recommendations regarding safety of breastfeeding on Kesimpta?

    Many thanks, Andrea

    Hi Andrea,

While we do not have extensive data on Kesimpta while breastfeeding, there is a report discussing lab work of two infants who were exposed to it through breast milk. This report showed no effect on the infants immune systems. This is a large protein molecule which means that the amount in milk is likely to be very low. If some were to transfer into the milk, it is also likely to be partially destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. Kesimpta appears to be acceptable to use during breastfeeding, especially if you are over 1 month postpartum.
