  • h.pylori positive

I am exclusively pumping for my 18 month old. I have a freezer stash of milk that I hope to provide to her until age 2.

I tested positive for h.pylori today. Does this mean I need to stop pumping? Do I need to discard previously frozen milk?

    Thank you.

    H. pylori is a bacterium that colonizes the stomach and is transmitted primarily through oral-oral or fecal-oral contact, not through breast milk. There is no evidence that H. pylori is transmitted via human milk, and breastfeeding is considered safe to continue during maternal infection. In fact, breast milk contains protective components that may reduce infant gastrointestinal infection risk overall. Your can continue breastfeeding and using your stored milk as desired.
