  • Magnesium citrate and fleet enemas in pregnancy

i deal with colonic inertia. I managed it with miralax for many years, but no longer tolerate it. I am 12 weeks pregnant and struggling with constipation more now. I have previously supplemented with 700 mg magnesium citrate with success. Can I use this much while pregnant? Smaller doses do nothing, and colace does not help (nor do bulk forming fiber supplements).

I wpuld also also like to know if using a fleet enema weekly or every other week is safe for my baby. Thank you for your time.

    chiredhead,

I spoke with Dr Hale he advised these medications were probably ok to use in pregnancy. We do recommend discussing these doses with your OB before taking them.
