Is Carmex lip balm safe during early pregnancy? Active ingredient is Camphor 1.7%, Menthol .7%, & Phenol .4%. Salicylic acid is an inactive ingredient.

Hi, thanks for your post.
Carmex should be no problem for you during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Animal studies have shown that phenol can be harmful to a fetus, but only in very large amounts. Pretty much anything is harmful in very large amounts. As long as you are not eating the lip balm, you should be OK.
