  • Botox injections for Migraines

Hi, I'm looking for any information on getting botox injections for treatment of severe and frequent migraines. I saw 2 other posts regarding Botox, but didn't know if it would matter that the dose would be greater than simply for facial wrinkles.
The mother is nursing a 2 1/2 year old, only 3-4 times per day.

    Thank you.

    Dear Amyaks,

When used in the form of Botox, and injected properly, it is extremely unlikely to enter the plasma or milk compartment. A brief interruption of a few hours to ascertain that none has entered the systemic circulation would all but eliminate any possible complications in a breastfeeding mother. Further, because this product is so large in molecular size, it would have an extremely difficult time entering the milk compartment. Neither botulinum bacteria, nor the toxin is secreted in breastmilk.

    Sincerely,
