    Dr. Hale:
I have been diagnosed with Biopolar Mixed for 7 years, and I am taking Trazodone, Lamotrogine, Zyprexa, Prazosin, and Wellbutrin SR. I got married last September. My husband and I would like to be able to have children. What do I have to do to have a safe pregnancy?

    Thank you for your time!

At this time, none of these drugs individually are considered really dangerous for a fetus. That said, when taken all together the risk needs to be re-evaluated by your obstetrician and you should discuss what to expect following their use in pregnancy. My suggestion would be for you to plan your pregnancy and see an obstetrician BEFORE you get pregnant. In addition, make sure you are taking at least 1 mg of folic acid before you get pregnant.
