  • Pregnancy and Zoloft

    Hi Dr.

I have been dealing with anxiety and I am on Zoloft 50 mg trying to conceive. I know sertraline has been well studied in pregnancy but wanted to see if it could cause autism in the baby later on?

    thank you!

Antidepressants used during pregnancy are commonly used with no noticeable harm to an infant's brain. We don’t believe the maternal medication will harm the infant's intellectual capacity later on. A mother with untreated depression can also result in adverse outcomes, such as impacts on attachment. Sertraline is a very common choice for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
