    Nortriptyline (low dose, off-label use)

Curious about any information about using low-dose nortriptyline during pregnancy, all the research I seem to come across is focused on dosages much higher than the low-dose prescribed for off-label use [GI related, 10mg/day].

    Lou:

Nortriptyline and the tricyclic antidepressants have been used for many years for chronic pain and for depression. At this time, we don't have much data that suggests nortriptyline is teratogenic, even when used in the first trimester. You are correct, that here to fore, most all studies used the higher 25-50 mg doses.

I doubt there is much risk at the 10 mg dose.
