I am still nursing my 20mo and starting IVF. Back in February, my reproductive endocrinologist suggested I start taking 600mg of COQ10 per day, aware that I breastfeed. When I read that it is naturally in milk, I assumed it is ok to take. So I have been taking it for 7 months now. However recently now reading it is not recommended. Could you provide more information? We are about to start the egg retrieval cycle in the next month or so, during which time I will also be working towards weaning in advance of embryo transfer. I would hate to stop taking it just before starting an egg retrieval cycle given the evidence that it is effective. On the other hand I am now terrified that I could be harming my toddler by taking high levels of this long term at this point.
My RE also suggested I could optionally take 1500-1800mg of N Acetyl Cysteine per day. Is this safe while breastfeeding?
