5000 IU per day may be a bit much. I'd suggest no more than 2000 IU per day but this depends on sun exposure. I'd also suggest you get your doctor to run Vitamin D levels on you. You might be surprised that your levels are too high.

As for your son, the current recommended dose is 400 IU.

Be careful and don't OVERDOSE you or you son.

5000 IU Vitamin D3 cholecalciferol from lichen

Typically I take between 2000 IU and 4000 IU depending if I’m spending a lot of time outdoor (either 1 2000 Iu pill or 2 of them). I also give my son typically 400 IU vitamin d3 drop a day. The thing is, I just saw a 5000 IU vitamin d (https://www.iherb.com/pr/NATURELO-Vitamin-D3-Plant-Based-125-mcg-5-000-IU-180-Easy-Swallow-Capsules/97675?rcode=mkt1001&ccode=us&currcode=USD&langcode =en-US&fld=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl9GCBhDvARIsAFunhslS5PbWmL j fjZ5Hz2lK1_GMFRolFBYaiymMwIjb-l4TC3qUxA2lFYMaAkn4EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds (https://www.iherb.com/pr/NATURELO-Vitamin-D3-Plant-Based-125-mcg-5-000-IU-180-Easy-Swallow-Capsules/97675?rcode=mkt1001&ccode=us&currcode=USD&langcode =en-US&fld=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl9GCBhDvARIsAFunhslS5PbWmL j fjZ5Hz2lK1_GMFRolFBYaiymMwIjb-l4TC3qUxA2lFYMaAkn4EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)) for really cheap at Walgreens. I’m trying to figure out if 5000 Iu is safe to use for a lactating mom and also, if I take this would be giving a 400 IU drop of vitamin D3 be too much? Would taking 5000 IU vitamin D3 and giving my son a drop of 400 IU Vitamin D3 be too much for him? He’s 3 and 2 months and still nurses during the day and night.

    Thank you.
