  • Egg quality boosting supplements

Hello, I suffer from diminished ovarian reserve even though i am only 32 years old. I went through ivf before and got pregnant with my daughter who is now almost 3. She is still breastfed to sleep and sometimes during the day. I have advised to take supplements to boost my egg quality in preparation for my next ivf cycle in Jan 2014. The supplements are: Royal Jelly 500mg, CoQ10 100mg, B-complex 100 and L-Arginine 1000mg. All daily. Could you advise if these are safe while i am still nursing? Thanks for your help.

    Dear Chiara80,

Supplements are not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Some are safe, but some are unsafe for breastfeeding mothers. Due to lack of data, we do not know if these supplements are safe for breastfeeding infants. Since your child is older and the intake of milk is smaller than a younger infant, the risk would be less, but we can not say there is no risk.

    Sincerely,
