  • Soolantra (ivermectin) cream 1% for rosacea

My dermatologist just prescribed this cream, applied once a day at bedtime. I am currently breastfeeding my 2.5 year old a few times a day and a few times a night. Is there any info available on the safety of this medication while nursing?

    Thanks!

    Hdevert50, thanks for posting,

Invermectin is rated an L3-limited data-probably compatible. The amount transferred into breast milk is 1.3% of your dose. We would recommend applying the cream right after you have breastfed the infant so it has time to be absorbed into your skin before breastfeeding again so there is no accidental transfer to the infant.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please call the InfantRisk Center at 806-352-2519. Thanks,
