  • Wart remover products

Are wart remover products, ie compound w, dr scholl's, curad, etc., safe to use while breastfeeding? I know it contains approximately 40% salicylic acid in the pads.

    Hi, thanks for your post.

As long as these products are used short-term and on a small area of the body, they should be fine. Up to 25% of the drug can be absorbed into the bloodstream, so try to limit the application to a square inch or so at a time. Be careful not to expose the baby directly to medication residues the may be left on your hands, skin, or clothing.

Please call us at the InfantRisk Center if this has not completely answered your question.*(806)352-2519
