Hello, I'm supporting, in Italy, a mother breastfeeding a 2 year old baby girl with G6PD deficiency. The mother has a diagnosis of psoriasis on both feet soles. She read the page https://www.infantrisk.com/content/breastfeeding-challenges-g6pd-not-bad-it-looks but is worried about topical medications prescribed especially after speaking with by her dermatologist. The answer for her concerns was a simple; "its not safe for the baby, time to wean, she's old anyway". But is this really true? This mother does not fell ready to wean if not strictly necessary.
This mother and the dermatologist are worried mostly about salicylic acid and its effects since the G6PD deficiency, but there are also concerns about the lack of studies about tacalcitol.
These are the prescription:
Vellutan cream : Tacalcitol 4microg/g
Dermatar:salicylic acid 15mg/g+/Ammonium sulfoichthyolate15mg/g + betamethasone 17-valerate 21-acetate 0,5mg/g
Thanks in advance for any help
Annalisa
