  • Chemical peels with AHA and BHA

Hi there I am a breastfeeding momma of a 7 month old and I am looking to start using AHA and BHA serums. I have been doing research and it says AHA’s are fine to a certain % and same with BHA’s. Can you confirm if it is okay to use? For example I am looking to purchase drunk elephant from boos serum that has 12% AHA and 2% BHA.

    Hi,

Did you ever hear anything back on this one?

    Thanks!

      Melissafowler,

This product has several ingredients that we do not have any data on. The majority of them are probably ok topically. The horse chestnut is poisonous when the raw seed, bark, flower, or leaf is used orally, and there is no data available for topical use. The Salicylic Acid should only be used on occasion (1-2 times per week) as it is absorbed up to 25% through the skin. "Due to significant systemic absorption, prolonged use of topical salicylic acid should be used with some caution. Salicylic acid is not known to be associated with Reye syndrome in infants and children." (Medications and Mothers' Milk database, Dr Thomas Hale PhD).
