Hello, i was given a shot of solumedrol after a severe allergic reaction. Is it okay to nurse my son?

    Ambb2257,

Solumedrol (methylprednisonolone) is rated an L2-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is only 0.46-3.15% of your dose. If your dose was low (less than 80mg) it is probably ok to continue nursing. If your dose was greater than 80mg wait about 3-6 hours to nurse.

The dose i received was 125mg. I waited 4 1/2 hours an pumped and dumped. I also got a prescription for 4mg tablets to take for 6 days. Am i allowed to nurse taking them? And do they decrease supply ?

        Ambb2257,

Yes the medrol dose pack is ok, but some mothers are sensitive to it and it may decrease your milk supply.
