I am starting Sulo-Medrol via IV at 500mg for 3 days. This is the first time I take this medication. How long should I pump and dump before I resume to breastfeed my 6 months old?
We just published this data. The amount of methylprednisolone in milk, even following 1000 mg doses, is not high. I'd suggest you wait about 8 hours following the IV infusion to return to breastfeeding. Then wait an additional 8 hours after each additional infusion.
