is ativan safer then ambien for a 3.5 month old breastfeed baby? what are the recommend times to wait after each dose?

Yes, these should be ok to use. The Ativan is the only risk and 1 mg should be ok. Just observe infant for sedation. Its really unlikely, but be advised.
