  • Need urgent assistance regarding iodinated contrast for kidney procedure

I have a patient being advised to pump and dump following a kidney procedure where Iodinated Optiray 320 was used to visualize the kidney. She's not even a week post partum. Is pump and dump necessary? And if so for how long?

    Thank you so much.

    GenRN:

Optiray has such a short half-life that by the time you receive this, this drug is already gone. Basically, even the American College of Radiology does not require a breastfeeding mother stop breastfeeding.
