ANy reports of infants developing a diaper rash when mother is taking Miralax? Any contraindications of use of MiraLax during BF?

  • #2
    Dear MRMClactation,

Polyethylene glycols are derivatives of paraffins (mineral oils) and these agents generally exhibit little to no toxicity, and systemic absorption is unlikely when used topically or orally. The molecular weights of these agents vary. Although no data are available on transfer into human milk, it is highly unlikely that enough maternal absorption would occur to produce milk levels. No reports of breastfeeding infants developing diaper rash when mothers used Miralax were found.

    Sincerely,
    Cindy Pride, MSN, CPNP
