  • General Anesthesia

I am having surgery tomorrow under general anesthesia for a kidney stone to be removed. I am wanting to know if I will need to pump and dump tomorrow after the procedure is done?
    Thank you

    Csgreen2005,

The most common meds used are versed, propofol, fentanyl, an anesthetic gas, an antibiotic, a steroid and a neuromuscular blocking agent. We recommend waiting 4 hours after your procedure to breastfeed provided you are fully awake at that time and your infant does not have a history of apnea. We do not recommend Demerol as it has a very long half-life.
