  • Marijuana and adderall

I'm currently breast and bottle feeding a six month old 18.5 lbs. I'd like to go back to my prepregnancy daily habit of smoking marijuana once a day and taking 10 mg adderall. Should I stop breastfeeding?

    Brooklynmom:

We honestly don't know much about marijuana and its transfer into milk, except that it does transfer significantly, and could potentially affect your infants mental development.

The animal studies of the use of mj in breastfeed suggests it is hazardous and we see dramatic reductions in neurodevelopment in exposed young offspring who have been breastfed.

So, I'd stick with the Adderall, and see if your physician could suggest something else other than marijuana to help your condition.
