  • Collagen supplement

The breastfeeding mother of a 2 1/2 year old in our practice would like to take collagen supplements. What she purchased is Barton Nutritional Systems' collagen tablets. The label carries the instructions to check with your physician if pregnant or nursing.

4-4-11: I have waited over a week for a reply to this post and am not sure why there has not been any answer. This mother would like to know if she can use the supplements she purchased, but I cannot find any answers. Any response would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Kate

    Jack147,

Collagen is very safe when taken orally. It is on the FDA's Generally Regarded as Safe list and we anticipate that it will be completely digested by the mother.
