Hello, I know their are limited, if any studies on zomig and breastmilk. Do you recommend waiting a certain interval to nurse or pumping and dumping? Thanks

thisisnicole, thanks for posting,
Zomig (Zolmitriptan) is structurally similar to sumatriptan but has better oral bioavailability, higher penetration into the CNS, and may have dual mechanisms of action. No data are available on its penetration into human milk, but it is likely. Consider sumatriptan as preferred alternate. Peak levels occur usually before 4 hours, so waiting at least 4 hours may reduce how much of the medication is passed into the breast milk. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please call the InfantRisk Center at 806-352-2519, Thanks.
