    Is the motion sickness patch transderm-scop safe for infants while breastfeeding? Duration of use is short. Would pumping after use be advisable?

      Hi, thanks for your post.

      The transderm-scop patch delivers 1mg of scopolamine over about 3 days. That's less overall than taking an injection. We don't know exactly how much scopolamine gets into the milk, but we expect it to be very little. This drug is not easily absorbed by the baby's intestines; that's why it has to be a patch or injection. I don't think pumping is necessary. Just watch your child for any signs of constipation, dry mouth, or urinary retention. If you see these problems, switch over to formula (or at least dilute your milk with it) until you finish using the patch.
