Is there any data on the safety of using Intense Pulse Light Therapy while breastfeeding? My client's rosacea is flaring up and the dermatologist has recommended IPL therapy. The nursling is 8 months old.

Hi, thanks for your post.
I do not see any potential risk to a breastfeeding baby from intense pulsed light therapy. There are no toxic products produced by this process. The risk from anesthetic agents should be considered and will be dependent on what drug is used and in what quantity. Most of the time, this procedure does not require anesthesia.
Please call us at the InfantRisk Center if this has not completely answered your question. (806)352-2519
