I am working with a mother of a newborn that says she uses LSD. She would like information about how quickly LSD transfers into breastmilk and how long it would be in her system while breastfeeding.

juliwalter,
If this mother is planning on continuing to use LSD we do not recommend the safety of her breastfeeding. "This drug is definitely CONTRAINDICATED. Maternal urine may be positive for LSD for 34-120 hours post ingestion." (Medications and Mothers' Milk database, Dr Thomas Hale PhD). If this mother gets into a treatment program and stops using any illicit drugs she could begin nursing after she has clean urine screens.
