    Elthrombopag (Promacta) is not recommended in breastfeeding mothers. Dr Hale states this medication is too risky because it can increase a young infants bone marrow activity and they are already born with extra cells they are trying to slough off.

    ITP and elthrombopag

    A mother of a 4 month-old breastfeeding baby was diagnosed with ITP 2 months ago. She is not responsive to corticosteroids and her hematologist has suggested elthrombopag. Unfortunately I cannot find any literature on that drug. What would you suggest? Thank you.
