I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant and have been taking Enbrel throughout this pregnancy (I would have been disabled without it). Unfortunately, it has stopped working and I'm starting Cimzia today. Will it be safe to breastfeed while taking Cimzia? Thank you

Hi, thanks for your post.
There are no studies in humans breastfeeding on this drug. Animal studies suggest that very little of it is likely to get into the breastmilk. That small amount is *probably* safe, based on information gathered about other drugs in the same class. We are recruiting moms on Cimzia for an ongoing study. Please call us at the InfantRisk Center for more information about participating. (806)352-2519
