My urologist would like me to start Myrbetriq for overactive bladder. Im still breastfeeding my 19 month old 3-5 times a day or so. The urologist is unsure if its safe of not.
Based on this medication's long half-life (50 hours), smaller size (396.5 Daltons), and moderate protein binding (71%), it is expected that this medication could enter human milk to some degree. However, due to this medication's massive volume of distribution, it is unlikely much will stay in the plasma compartment of the mother or enter the milk compartment. It is probably compatible for use in a breastfeeding mother. Monitor your baby for: Vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, and urinary retention.
