  • IVF meds and breastfeeding

    hello!
we currently have an 18 month old daughter who still breastfeeds on demand, usually at night. She eats regular food primarily, but nurses in the evening and at night on demand. We are starting the IVF drugs for an FET so that we can have a second child. The drugs we will be using include Lupron (.5 mg) estradiol patches (.1 mg, a new patch every 3 days) Estrace pills (they will overlap with patches and increase from 2 mg 3 times a day to 2 mg 4 times a day), endometrin vaginal inserts (100 mg 3 times a day), and progesterone in oil 50 mg every other day. Are these safe to use while breastfeeding?

    Rachel1212,

These are all probably ok. The main concern is that they may decrease your milk supply which will decrease naturally if you become pregnant. There are also rare feminization effects such as gynecomastia.
