What is the safety of taking clozapine while breastfeeding a 2.5 year old?

    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for your post.

There are no long-term or hidden dangers of this medication that we know of. People who take this med themselves sometimes complain of stomach upset or drowsiness. If you do not see any of these symptoms in your child, then you can consider this medication to be safe for your situation. If side effects are a problem, try feeding just before your dose and wait 8 hour after before feeding again. It is not necessary to discard your milk.

Please post again or call us at the InfantRisk Center if this has not completely answered your question. (806)352-2519
