  • Amisulpride

I have a patient in labor now that I was consulted regarding this medication. I am unable to find a lot of information on Amisulpride. Mom is taking Amisulpride 50mg every day and has been taking this with pregnancy. I know that it is not FDA approved. I found some information on LactMed and the package insert . Do you have any additional information for us to help this Mother. Thanks!

Amisulpride is just an older "typical" antipsychotic, similar to many others. It is somewhat similar in effect to olanzapine. It is well known to stimulate prolactin levels. She should have a good milk production.

As this product is NOT available in the US, i'd suggest one of the atypicals, such as Abilify, olanzapine, risperidal. Levels of all of these in milk are very low.
