Hi,
I posted a while ago with a question about mag sulfate. A colleague of mine (also named Melinda) called the Infant Risk line with a question about mag sulfate, and was told that if it was a continuous infusion, the mother should pump and discard her milk for 12 hours after the mag is turned off. We had not heard this before, and I can't find it published anywhere, including in Medications and Mother's Milk where it is an L1. My colleague called several times for clarification and came away with the same answers---just wondering if this is something new? We have counseled mothers on Mag Sulfate infusions to breastfeed, and this would be a big change in practice for us.
Thanks!
