  • Is Telmisartan safe for a 6 month old baby?

I am usually not on high blood pressure medication. Yesterday I had a high blood pressure episode and I took telmisartan 40 mg as I had it in my cupboard. Upon checking online to my horror it doesn’t seem to be safe for breastfeeding. I subscribed to Halesmed and it is indicated as L4 - possibly hazardous. I have pumped and dumped for the past 24 hours. Can I continue to breastfeed? If I pump and dump how many days do I need to do so? My baby is approaching 6 months.

Its fine to breastfeed. We only worry about the ACE inhibitor antihypertensives in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy and early postpartum, say the first month or two.
