  • Fluticasone furoate

Is there any information on the inhaler Relvar (Revlar?) on lactation? A mother I know feels her production has lowered.

The active ingredients are fluticasone furoate/vilanterol.

The mother also was prescribed antibiotics around the same time, but they are well-known antibiotics: amoxicillin/clavulanic acid

    Hi, thanks for your post.

There are no studies which specifically examine the effect of the two ingredients you mentioned on milk supply. We have not received any verified reports from individuals describing a drop in milk supply shortly after starting any drug in these two classes. I can not think of a plausible pharmacological connection between these drugs and the activities of prolactin or oxytocin in women. It may still be possible, but we don't have any information that would meaningfully weigh on that question.
