  • Benylin with codeine cough syrup

    Hi.

Can I take, while nursing a three and a half year old, 5 ml of Benylin with Codeine cough syrup, for a dry persistent cough at night-

    Ingredients-
    Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 12.5 mg and
    codeine phosphate 10 mg
    and Ammonium chloride 125 mg.

    Thanks so much

    Nikita Munro,

I am not sure about the ammonium chloride, the other ingredients are probably ok for short term use. A one time dose should be ok in an older infant so go ahead and take it tonight and wait 3 hours to nurse and I will check with Dr Hale and we can post hopefully something by tomorrow.

      Nikita Munro,

Dr Hale said the ammonium chloride was fine.
