Ephedrine is rated an L4- limited data-possibly hazardous. "On an acute basis, it is not likely to harm a breastfeeding infant. However, it should not be used regularly by breastfeeding mothers." (Medications and Mothers' Milk database, Dr Thomas Hale PhD.) Decongestants may possibly decrease your milk production. Monitor your infant for irritability, insomnia, changes in feeding, poor weight gain, tremors. Antihistamines like regular Claritin or Zyrtec preferred for colds along with Flonase and Guaifenesin regular strength.

Guaifenesin is rated an L3-no data-probably compatible. We do not know how much transfers, but no adverse effects have been reported. Monitor your infant for sedation.

    Bronkaid (ephedrine sulfate)

Hi, Bronkaid in Medications & Mother's Milk is listed with pseudoephedrine I believe, but the Bronkaid I have has ephedrine sulfate and guaifenesin. I'm thinking it's a bad idea to take it, and haven't yet, but thought I'd ask here. Thanks.
