Celexa vs Lexapro

Hello,

I am nursing my 15-month old around 4x/day. My Dr has recommended Celexa or Lexapro for my high anxiety level, and because Zoloft did not work well for me.

Which would be preferred during breastfeeding, Celexa or Zoloft?

Lexapro is rated an L2-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is 5.2-7.9% of your dose. Recent data shows that levels are low to undetectable in most infants. Monitor for sedation or irritability, not waking to feed/poor feeding and weight gain.

Celexa is rated an L2-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is 3.56-5.37% of your dose. Even though Celexa has a lower transfer rate than the Lexapro, the Lexapro is probably the better choice if it works for you, but if not the Celexa would also be ok. Monitor for sedation or irritability, not waking to feed/poor feeding and weight gain.
