    any info on this drug in treating a new mom with bipolar disorder.

    Hi, thanks for your post.

    Direct studies examining lurasidone in breastfeeding women have not been published. However, the drug does have a high molecular weight, high protein binding, and low oral bioavailability. All of these properties suggest that it won't enter breastmilk in clinically relevant amounts, but we don't know for sure. The most common side-effects reported in adults are nausea/vomiting, agitation, and somnolence. Watch the baby closely for changes in sleep and eating/bowel patterns. We give Latuda an intermediate safety rating, due largely to the lack of data.
