  • Drug interactions while breastfeeding

Are there any known drug interactions with Lexapro while breastfeeding? Meaning, if I take Lexapro and breastfeed, is my baby able to take ibuprofen? It sounds like I would have to be monitored myself for increased bleeding risk for a possible drug interaction. Would that also apply to a baby being exposed to a small amount of Lexapro (I take 5mg)?

    fridgejo:

There are dozens of apparent drug drug interactions listed for escitalopram and various drugs. I don't think I'd really worry about the ibuprofen in your infant, if only occassionally used. Also, Tylenol may be a better choice for your baby. If you have some other drugs used, check with your pharmacist for drug drug interactions...they all have programs that do that.
