Wellbutrin is rated an L3-limited data-probably compatible. The amount that transfers into breast milk is only 0.11-1.99% of your dose. We think is ok to nurse while taking Wellbutrin in normal doses (150mg twice a day) as long as the infant is not symptomatic. There have been two case reports of seizures in infants exposed to Wellbutrin through breast milk exposure, but a febrile seizure could not be ruled out in one of the cases. Many women breastfeed without complications while taking this medication. Your infant is older and not nursing as often as a newborn so less likely to have any side effects. Monitor your infant for sedation or irritability, seizures, not waking to feed/poor feeding and weight gain.

I am still nursing my 17 month old but would like to take this medication due to depression. Zoloft has not worked well for me. Would this likely have any impact on a 17 month old? He nurses 2-3 times in 24 hrs (nap, bedtime and on occasion during the night).
