  • Nursing on topiramate XR 100mg

I have a seizure disorder and migraine headaches. I have been prescribed topiramate XR 100 mg to take every day. Is it safe to nurse while on this medication? I saw the answers for the low dose short acting medication, but I'm wondering if my situation is different.

This situation should be similar to the non-extended release topiramate. The only difference is that you cannot "avoid the peak" by waiting a few hours after taking the med to breastfeed. Watch your child for excessive sleepiness.
