Miapod:
I would not recommend using valproic acid (Epilem) in the neonatal period while breastfeeding. Valproic acid is well known to suppress IQ in last trimester, and I would assume so in newborn.

Breasting on Lamictal and Keppra
I’m currently breastfeeding my 9 week old while taking 450mg of lamictal (400mg was my pre pregnancy dose). I saw my neurologist last week as I’m having jerks throughout my body. He wants me to take a small dose of epilim with the lamictal. He told me I would have to stop breastfeeding if I started taking the epilim due to how it works with the lamictal. I do not want to stop breastfeeding. Years ago I used to take lamictal and keppra and was seizure free. Is it safe to take lamictal and keppra while breastfeeding?Tags: None
